Japanese vowels and Japanese syllables

  04   Japanese syllables (3) ta, chi, tsu, te, to

Except for vowels which can stand alone, Japanese words are basically made up of simple syllables composed of one consonant and one vowel. Each syllable is stressed more or less evenly.

ta
 ..... as in tuck
chi
 ..... as in cheese, but shorter
tsu
 ..... as in cats, in addition to the [u]
te
 ..... as in ten
to
 ..... as in toe, but shorter

Let's pronounce the Japanese words.

(1)  ki te ki,  ko ta e

(2)  te a shi,  to shi tsu ki

(3)  chi ka i,  ku tsu shi ta

(4)  ta ka sa,  chi ka te tsu
