   01   Japanese vowels

There are five vowels in Japanese. Japanese vowels stand alone as individual syllables.

a
..... as in sun
i
..... as in eat, but shorter
u
..... as in you, but shorter
e
..... as in ever
o
..... as in low, but shorter

Let's pronounce the vowels.

(1)  a, e, i, o, u

(2)  e, i, a, o, u

Each vowel is pronounced separately.

(3)  ue, ie, au

(4)  oi, ai, aoi
